The Importance Of Mist & Fog

Shots of early morning or rain laden mist can be so evocative. The mist symbolises things which make it far more important to me than simply the aesthetic value they contain. Sometimes the mist is leafy, with shafts of sunlight or moonlight breaking through and playing about. Sometimes, it is the red mist of dawn or dusk, sometimes it is the heavy grey mist of a thundershower. And each of them make me draw my breath in for they give the atmosphere which makes life magical and a moment a moment. They crystallise every memorable moment for me and represent the perspetive Man is allowed on his reality, hazy, atmospheric and with a little bit of magic and madness. Maybe thats why I love hazy portraiture so much…
